چکیده

A frame interpolation algorithm for frame rate up-conversion of progressive image sequences is proposed. The algorithm is based on simple motion compensation and linear interpolation. A motion vector is searched for each pixel in the interpolated image and the resulting motion eld is median ltered to remove inconsistent vectors. Averaging along the motion trajectory is used to produce the interpolated pixel values. The main novelty of the proposed method is the motion compensation algorithm which has been designed with low computational complexity as an important criterion. Subsampled blocks are used in block matching and the vector search range is constrained to the most likely motion vectors. Simulation results show that good visual quality has been obtained with moderate complexity. The algorithm has been designed mainly for 50 Hz to 75 Hz frame rate up-conversion with applications in a multimedia environment, but it can also be used in advanced television receivers to remove artifacts due to low scan rate. Adaptive Frame Rate Up-Conversion Considering Low Computational Complexity and Complex Motion

This paper presents a new method for frame rate up-conversion using sub-sampled bilateral motion estimation, motion vector smoothing, simplified bidirectional motion compensated interpolation, and complex motion detection. The proposed method produces improved image quality and requires less computational complexity compared to conventional motion estimation. The average PSNRs of the proposed m...

Motion Compensated Frame Rate Up-Conversion for Low Frame Rate Video

Frame rate up-conversion is useful for low frame rate pictures such as movie. In case of conversion, basic motion compensation causes gap at covered area and uncovered area. To avoid the gap, we propose the motion compensation centered at the position of target. Fully motion compensated interpolation is possible in this method. To realize this, error normalizing by block activity is used for mo...

Weighted-adaptive motion-compensated frame rate up-conversion

In this paper, we propose a frame rate upconversion algorithm using the weighted-adaptive motioncompensated interpolation (WAMCI) that reduces the block artifacts due to the failure of motion estimation and blockbased processing. The proposed method is based on the interpolation scheme by weighted sum of multiple motioncompensated interpolation (MCI) images. Also, in the proposed method, the bl...

Adaptive search area for fast motion estimation

In this paper a new method for determining the search area for motion estimation algorithm based on block matching is suggested. In the proposed method the search area is adaptively found for each block of a frame. This search area is similar to that of the full search (FS) algorithm but smaller for most blocks of a frame. Therefore, the proposed algorithm is analogous to FS in terms of reg...

Motion Compensated Frame Rate Up-Conversion Using Modified Adaptive Extended Bilateral Motion Estimation

In this paper, a novel frame rate up conversion (FRUC) using modified adaptive bilateral motion estimation (MAEBME) is proposed. Traditionally, extended bilateral motion estimation (EBME) carries out bilateral motion estimation (BME) twice on the same region, therefore has high complexity. Adaptive extended bilateral motion estimation (AEBME) is proposed to reduce complexity and increase visual...
